In the Battle of Tel Afar, Sergeant Gary Villalobos and lieutenant colonel Terrence Crowethe are ambushed in an alleyway by insurgents. Crowe is hit numerous times and falls to the ground. Refusing to leave his fallen comrade, Villalobos tells how he returned fire and refused to retreat until he could evacuate Crowe, preventing insurgents from capturing his body.
