During a walk audit of a street in the Amani neighborhood, AARP Wisconsin, city officials and community residents watched in horror as a pedestrian was struck by a car. He was OK, but the team sprang into action to try to prevent this from happening again. They worked together to convince the city to do a speed study and got an AARP grant to install a traffic calming circle, which has significantly reduced motorist speeds and made the neighborhood safer for residents.
