Through the LEAD Collaborative, VCU Health worked to tackle health equity issues by addressing patients’ social determinants of health. This Virginia-based academic medical center structures their emergency room with both clinical teams and outreach/community healthcare staff working in tandem to treat patients while addressing the social needs they might have, which could be an underlying source of stress and anxiety fueling health issues.
