Social Mission Area: Livable Communities & Pedestrian Safety (Milwaukee, Wi)
1:56
During a walk audit of a street in the Amani neighborhood, AARP Wisconsin, city officials and community residents watched in horror as a pedestrian was struck by a car. They worked together to convince the city to do a speed study and got an AARP grant to install a traffic calming circle, which has significantly reduced motorist speeds and made the neighborhood safer for residents.
